On with hat, scarf and gloves if you want to attend Art in Ice Academy, the ice sculpture school planned for 2-6 December in Livigno. Now in its 16th year, the competition sees 10 groups of three artists turn 3x3 mt cubes of pressed snow into works of art. This contemporary sculpture show attracts artists from as far away as Canada, Sweden, Belgium and the U.S. The Jury's Prize and the Artists' Prize are awarded on 6 December, while the People's Prize will be awarded in the New Year, to give Livigno's holiday-makers an opportunity to vote on the works. Where the artists produce their pieces and until Epiphany everybody is welcome to try their hand with

pickaxe and scalpel at the Art in Ice Academy sculpture classes held by the sculptors themselves. Twentieth Century Fox have chosen the Village as the setting for the upcoming launch of Alvin, their new animation movie starring 3 squirrels.
