With 60 breath-taking kilometres in 2 ½ hours from Tirano (close to Livigno) to Sankt Moritz, including 46 suspended bridges, the Bernina Express (a UNESCO heritage site) runs on the highest railway in Europe and one of the world's steepest. Just after Tirano station look out for the incredible spiral viaduct in Brusio. From Poschiavo the train climbs to 2091 m at Alp Grüm, then 2253 m at Bernina Pass, offering spectacular views of Morteratsch glacier.
