The summer of 2004 confirms Livigno as a cycling capital. Thanks to 600 km of digitally-ampped trails, families and groups of friends can pedal wearing the Lungolivigno Team jersey, one eye on the GPS and the other on the road. Along the way, you might well encounter one of the many top athletes who will be trying out the trails in anticipation of the MTB World Championships to be held here in 2005. Due to the passion and hard work of people in the valley, it has become know as cyclist heaven. Here bikes are not the exclusive domain of committed athletes in top form. Of the thirty itineraries established in the area, ten are fine for families or beginners, thanks to gondola lifts that lets you bring your bike to the top. Take a day out in the open on bikes available at our hotels; maybe one of the Giacomelli brothers will come along.
Riders in good shape can go for la Pedaleda, July 4, the Italian MTB Marathon for 2005. As an alternative there is the Tour of Three Lands, a great loop that leaves Livigno to touch Switzerland and South Tyrol. And there are biking camps with instructors at the level of Olger Meyer and Karen Heller.
Those who seek a more glamorous holiday can head for the Lungolivigno shops, where they'll find the latest products, and with a new look. From the new accessories department at Renna Sport, dedicated to the shoes and purses of Prada, Fendi, Tod's and Burberry, to Natura e... where it's pleasant to pass the time looking for natural wellness products and items for outdoor activities.
