There's no risk of going home with an empty basket in Livigno valley. The rivers are brimming with trout and other fresh water fish.

Easy to reach are Livigno lake and the River Spoel, where you can fish with a gillie who knows the secrets of the local waters.

Or try the almost mystical experience of mountain lake waters. Set off with lightweight equipment in the early morning silence broken only by the sounds of wind and streams.

Head for Lago delle Mine, stopping perhaps to cast your line in the icy river water, or to choose the right spot on Scale Lake, taking your time so as not to dispel the magic.
