Grab your bikePassion is a mountain bike. Bikes are welcome in Livigno and even more so in the Lungolivigno hotels.
Racing-bikers can pit themselves against Stelvio, Gavia, or Mortirolo Passes or Foscagno, while off-road enthusiasts have 600 km of digitalized mountain trails to choose from. Cyclists are welcome in Livigno and its hotels, which are happy to provide assistance, equipment and plans as well as off ering a mini-course on cycling downhill safely and cycling uphill with less effort. The Tour of the Twelve Valleys is recommended for fitter cyclists only, involving six hours pedalling through breathtaking scenery in the Swiss National Park and Stelvio National Park, twelve Alpine valleys (Livigno, Alpisella, Fraele, Gallo, Boffalora, Fontana, Mora, Pettini, Corta, Trela, Pila, Tort) 61 km and seven passes, from Passo della Val Mora (1930 m) to Passo Boffalora (2300 m).
Or the even tougher Tour of two Worlds, seven hours at higher altitudes in Italy and Switzerland, 70 km with climbs so steep that you'll have to walk your bike in some places. A passion for cycling unites the best bike hotels in the area (Hotel Bellaval in Scuol, Hotel Central in Nauders, Hotel Stelvio in Sta. Maria and Hotel Paré in Livigno), on the Three Nations Tour over several days through Italy, Switzerland and Austria, your bags magically appearing each evening in your new hotel room. Lungolivigno advises Climb up Monte della Neve and Crap de La Paré (4 hours) This 15 km path starts off from Mottolino restaurant. From here you take the panoramic mountain-top paths as far as Monte della Neve, which includes Ortles Cevedale, Cima Piazza and Dosdè. Then it's down to Passo dell'Eira before climbing gently to Crap de la Paré to admire the view of Livigno valle: the man-made lake, Trepalle and all the Alpine peaks. Return by way of Passo dell'Eira and Lovers' Walk, descending to Livigno where the legendary Tea del Vidal will restore bikers and mere mortals with a stiff drink. |
